Heavy Bolter Servitor - update

I made some changes to the Servitor to stop it from looking too plain. As I'm writting this the undercoat is drying and unless I spot any greenstuffing mistakes, painting will comence soon!

Pigs can't fly...

.. but guns can roll!

Another addition to my inquisitorial retinue and the next in my series of tracked servitors, this one is all about simplicity so it's significantly smaller and simpler than the plasma cannon servitor. The idea is that the bigger servitor is somehow controling the smaller ones. This theme will eventually run through the whole inquisitorial retinue where the Inquisitor will comand some of his servants which will in turn comand robotic machines. A Hierophant will be accompanied by a Servo Skull with auspex and extra sensors, a Scribe will be accompanied by a Scribe Skull and the large Plasma Cannon Servitor will be accompanied by two smaller ones. In another note all this reminds me that I should photograph the whole of the retinue as it stands so far and make a post about it. I promise I'll stop being lazy and do it soon. In the meantime take a look at the wip pics and tell me what you think.

Commissar - finished!

After a long hiatus it's finally finished! Painting the flesh and especially the face was a chalenge as I had to be carefull not to get any paint on the adjacent areas but in the end it turned out ok I think. Eyes still give me a headache but I guess it's up to practice. I even tried using a magnifying lens but it didn't seem to make things easier in any way. I need all your last minute suggestions and ideas for touch-ups before varnishing so... have at it!

Commissar - metallics finished!

Seems this project is back on track after all. I'm done with the metallics and now all that remains is painting the flesh and finishing the base. I like how the mini looks so far but what do you think?

Wet weather, cold and flu, real life chores, epic mountain bike rides and the resulting exhaustion... All these can wear out even the most loyal servant of the Imperium but they can never crush his spirit. That spirit which yearns for the paintbrush for it knows that only with sheer style and impecable dress uniforms can the Imperium of man endure against the horrors of this galaxy. And even as I type these lines, somewhere in the depths of an imperial fortress, a commissar is preparing to strike fear into the hearts of the enemy. None shall withstand the style and splendour of his uniform. For the Emperor!

A small break

You'll probabaly have noticed that it's been some time since I posted anything here. Apart from real life concerns getting in the way, what little time I had was used in preparing and running a painting tutorial/ workshop in my local gaming store. Nothing fancy here since people were mostly interested in quick and easy techniques and time was limited but I managed to paint 2 marines using my technique for metallic power armour and a dwarf mini using Devlan Mud pretty much like a dip. Again the combination of a crowded gaming store, talking to random people and friends and painting in a limited timeframe doesn't make for great minis so... you've been warned!
